도시 개요
Naoshima's transformation into an art island began in the late 1980s with the Benesse group. Today the island has several museums, outdoor sculptures and installations inside old houses. Because many works are site-specific, the experience mixes art, architecture, landscape and the sea.
Naoshima is part of Kagawa Prefecture, between Okayama on Honshu and Takamatsu on Shikoku. It rewards slow travel: an overnight stay makes it easier to secure museum slots and enjoy the island after day-trippers leave. Every few years the islands host the Setouchi Triennale art festival, when visitor numbers surge.

가는 법 및 대중교통
Ferries run from Uno Port (Okayama Prefecture; JR Uno Line from Okayama, about an hour) to Miyanoura in around 20 minutes, and from Takamatsu (Shikoku) in around 50 minutes by ferry or about 30 minutes by high-speed boat. Ferries also connect Naoshima with Teshima and Inujima. Timetables are limited, especially in winter — check the latest schedules.
Town buses run between Miyanoura, Honmura and the Benesse area, with a Benesse shuttle inside the museum zone. Electric-assist bicycles are the most popular way to get around — the island is hilly, and rentals sell out on busy days.
