城市概覽
Kobe opened to foreign trade in 1868, and its Western-style villas and international food scene still reflect that history. The city was badly damaged by the Great Hanshin Earthquake in 1995 and rebuilt; the memorial at Meriken Park and the disaster museum tell that story.
Kobe is an easy day trip from Osaka or Kyoto, but it also makes a calmer base for the Kansai region, with Himeji, Osaka and Arima Onsen all close by.

- Mt Rokko & Rokko Island views: Ropeways and a cable car climb to viewpoints whose night views over Kobe and Osaka are famous.

- Kitano Ijinkan: Historic houses such as the Weathercock House (Kazamidori-no-Yakata); combination tickets are available.
- Kobe Port Tower: The red, hourglass-shaped landmark of the harbour, with an observation deck and rooftop.
- Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution: A moving museum about the 1995 earthquake and disaster preparedness.
- Ikuta Shrine: One of Japan's oldest shrines, right in the city centre.
- Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum: One of several Nada breweries with free or low-cost exhibits and tastings.

- Kobe beef: A certified brand of Tajima-strain wagyu. Teppanyaki restaurants serve it in set courses; lunch sets are cheaper. Look for the official certification, as many places serve other wagyu.
- Sobameshi: Chopped yakisoba noodles fried with rice on a griddle — a cheap local favourite.
- Akashiyaki: Soft, eggy octopus dumplings dipped in dashi broth, from nearby Akashi.
- Bakeries & sweets: Kobe is known for its bakeries and Western-style cakes, a legacy of its international history.
交通方式與當地移動
From Osaka, JR Special Rapid trains reach Sannomiya in about 20–25 minutes, with Hankyu and Hanshin lines as cheaper private alternatives. From Kyoto, JR Special Rapid takes around 50 minutes. Shinkansen stop at Shin-Kobe, linked to Sannomiya by subway.
Kobe Airport handles domestic flights; Kansai International Airport has a direct high-speed ferry and airport buses to Kobe.
Central Kobe is walkable between Kitano, Sannomiya, Motomachi and Harborland. The City Loop sightseeing bus links the main sights, and subways, Port Liner and JR handle longer hops.
